Lemon Verbena (Aloysia citriodora) (known also as lemon beebrush) is a native plant to South America but cultivated also in Europe. It has a very strong lemon-like scent. Due to its elegant appearance, it is grown primarily as a decorative shrub that, in addition to its visual qualities, spreads a pleasant, citrus scent.
In the past, young Lemmon Verbena leaves were used as a raw material for the extraction of essential oils that are part of the perfume, they were also used in the form of herbs to aromatize meat dishes and to prepare refreshing desserts. Nowadays, Lemon Verbena Leaf is valued as an ingredient in herbal teas. It has also many culinary uses (it is used in marinades, salad dressings, puddings and beverages).
