Benefits of Catnip Herb
Catnip Herb may help in stomach ailments. A hot herbal extract is a great antiseptic for inhalations used for a sore throat, cold, flu, cough. The tannic acids contained in the herb speed up tissue recovery and can also stop bleeding from small bruises or wounds, they help to heal burns, haemorrhoids and insect bites. Catnip teas have long been used in traditional herbal medicine to reduce the pain of menstrual cramps. The catnip tea is good for curing headaches as well. Infusions and extracts may be used as a sedative and antispasmodic, helping to improve digestive functions. A strong infusion may be used to repel fleas from carpets or the fur of animals. The essential oil is rich in carvacrol and thymol and is used to treat bronchitis, boasting antiseptic powers.
The tea may be prepared by adding 1 to 2 teaspoons to 1 cup of hot (not boiling) water. Steep it for 10 min then strain. Traditional doses for sedation require 4g of dried herb daily.
On order to prepare a true and effective drink that will help us to get proper sleep, boil 1.5 glass of water. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp of Catnip Herb to the water. Leave it to brew for about 20 minutes. Drink it warm.
