Ground Elder (Aegopodium podagraria L.) is also known as the herb of St. Gerard, bishop's weed, goutweed or goutwort. The plant is commonly found in Europe and Asia and it mainly grows on meadows, pastures, balks, wet thickets, roadside roads and wetlands. In the Middle Ages, Ground Elder was grown in monastery gardens, as a vegetable or spice plant, less often as herbal raw material.

In the past, Ground Elder Herb was used as a vegetable thanks to edible young leaves, reminiscent of spinach. The herb is also used to prepare skin tonic for the acne skin. Ground Elder has a bitter taste and can be used as a seasoning for soups, sauces, and salads.

How To Use Ground Elder Herb Health Embassy

Infusion

1-3 tsp of Ground Elder Herb pour with 200ml of boiling water. Brew under the cover for 1-15 minutes, then strain and drink. You can add to this infusion some lemon juice or honey to improve the taste. It could be consumed in a dose of 1 glass up to 3 times a day.

This infusion can be used externally as a warm or hot compress. The cooled infusion can be used to wash the skin.

Tincture

50g of Ground Elder Herb pour with 250ml of 40-60% strength alcohol. Close tightly and set aside for at least 14 days. After two weeks, filter and pour into a bottle. Drink up to 3 times a day in a dose of 5ml.
