Black Horehound (Ballota nigra L.) is a native plant to the Mediterranean region and to central Asia and has a very strong characteristic smell. It grows in lowlands, by roads, in thickets.
Black Horehound has hairy, oval or heart-shaped leaves, with toothed edges, that may turn black after the plant has flowered. The plant is harvested immediately when they start flowering.

Add 1-3 tsp of Black Horehound Herb to 1 cup (200 ml) of boiling water and let it steep for 10-15 minutes before straining.
1-2 tbsp of Black Horehound Herb pour a glass of water (200 ml) and put on a small heat. After bringing to a boil, simmer it for 20 minutes, then set aside for 15 minutes and strain. You can drink it with some honey, lemon juice, or stevia powder.
One part of Black Horehound Herb should be poured with 10 parts of alcohol 40-60%. For example, 1 litre of alcohol is needed for 100 g of the herb. The mixture is macerated for at least a week, and then filtered and poured into bottles.
